How it works in practice

Example UK payroll setups for overseas employers

A few typical situations this practice is built for, so you can picture how your own setup would run. These are illustrative examples of the work we do, not real clients, and the schemes and fees shown are our published rates.

Built for international teams

You do not need to catch us on the phone.

We are set up for employers around the world, so we are set up to fit your hours, not just ours. Email us or send a WhatsApp message whenever suits you and you will hear back within one UK business day. Most of what we do runs cleanly over email, which means nothing waits on a phone call lining up across timezones.

Prefer to talk? You can call us on +44 7359 937920, or ask for a WhatsApp voice note. Whatever is easiest for where you are.

Why that works in your favour

  • Every message answered within one UK business day, in writing, so you have a record.
  • No waiting for a call slot that fits both timezones.
  • Your named specialist handles it directly, not a call queue.
  • Call or WhatsApp voice note on request when you would rather talk.

Three ways it plays out

Illustrative examples of the work we do. Not real clients.

DPNI scheme

A manufacturer in Japan hiring a sales manager in Leeds

The company has no UK entity and does not want one. We set up a DPNI scheme in the employee's name, run a monthly payslip with Income Tax and National Insurance handled correctly, and manage the workplace pension in full. The employer stays the direct employer, the employee gets a compliant UK payslip, and the payroll fee is a fixed £157 a month.

DPNI scheme, first UK hire

A design agency in Brazil taking on an account director in Bristol

Their first UK hire, and they want the opening payday to be right. We get the DPNI scheme underway with HMRC, handle onboarding and pension enrolment, and make sure that first payday runs on time. From there it is a fixed monthly fee and a named specialist who knows the account.

NI-only scheme

A software company in Ireland employing an engineer in Edinburgh

An Irish employer usually owes UK employer's National Insurance on an employee based and working in the UK (unless, for example, the employee is posted from Ireland and stays in the Irish system with an A1), so HMRC's scheme here is an NI-only scheme in the company's own name, not a direct payment scheme in the employee's. We set it up for the company as its UK agent, and the engineer's income tax goes through Self Assessment or a tax-only scheme. We confirm the scheme type with HMRC when we set the scheme up.
