Who it's for

If you earn outside a normal payslip, this is for you

Anyone with income HMRC doesn't already tax at source usually has to file. We make it painless.

VERY COMMON

Contractors, agency & umbrella workers

Expenses to claim, multiple assignments, or income your umbrella didn't fully tax — we sort the return.

Self-employed & CIS subcontractors

Sole traders and CIS workers — we calculate your profit, claim your costs and reclaim CIS deductions.

Landlords

Rental income, mortgage interest relief and allowable costs — handled correctly and on time.

Directors & higher earners

Dividends, multiple income sources, or income over £100k — we keep it accurate and compliant.

The Self Assessment headache

Tax returns are stressful when you go it alone.

  • Miss the 31 January deadline and HMRC fines start at £100 — and grow.
  • It's easy to over-pay by missing allowable expenses and reliefs you're entitled to.
  • The form is confusing, and a mistake can mean penalties or an enquiry.
  • Making Tax Digital is coming — quarterly digital filing for many from 2026.

How Onshore fixes it

Send us your details once; we do the rest and tell you exactly what to pay and when.

  • We prepare and file your full return — checked by a person before it's submitted.
  • We claim every allowable expense and relief so you don't over-pay.
  • We track your deadlines and chase you in good time — no last-minute panic.
  • Fixed fee agreed up front. Plain English. No jargon.

Limited company director? The Director Bundle covers your payroll and this return from £49/mo all-in. No VAT is added to our fees — the price you see is the total, while many firms add 20% on top. Final fixed fee depends on complexity and is confirmed before we start. CIS subcontractors: we'll check whether you're owed a refund. Returns started close to the 31 January deadline may carry a small late-filing surcharge. Ask about a small annual retainer if you file every year.

FAQ

Self Assessment questions, answered

How do I know if I need to file?

You usually need to file if you're self-employed, a CIS subcontractor, a landlord, have untaxed income (dividends, interest), earn over £100,000, or are a director with untaxed income. Use the free checker above, or just ask us — we'll confirm.

What do you need from me?

A simple, secure checklist: your income (P60/P45, self-employment or rental figures, dividends, etc.) and any expenses. We tell you exactly what to send and chase anything missing.

What does it cost?

A fixed fee agreed up front — from £145 for a simple return, from £200 for self-employed/landlord, from £375 for complex. No surprises.

Can you stop me missing the deadline?

Yes — that's part of the service. We track your deadlines and chase you in good time so you avoid the £100+ late-filing penalties.

What about Making Tax Digital?

MTD for Income Tax is phasing in (from April 2026 for sole traders/landlords over £50k, April 2027 for £30k+), meaning digital records and quarterly updates. If it affects you, we'll set you up the right way.

Is my data safe?

Yes. We collect everything through a secure channel — never insecure email — and handle your information confidentially and in line with UK GDPR.
